Fleury Baudrand

Fleury Baudrand, (9 March 1811 – 1 October 1853), was a Roman Catholic priest.

There is no record of Fleury Baudrand’s childhood or education in France. He was ordained a priest in 1837 entered the noviciate of the Oblates. In 1841 the Oblates accepted the invitation of Bishop Ignace Bourget to send some priests to the diocese of Montreal. Baudrand volunteered and he arrived in Montreal along with a group from the Maison du Calvaire in Marseilles. He eventually served as superior of two Oblate houses in Canada.

In 1853 Baudrand was went as a missionary to Galveston, Texas. He was chosen superior of the future college at Brownsville but shortly after his arrival he contracted yellow fever and died after a three day illness.

Fleury Baudrand is remembered as a conscientious and committed priest. He, and many other Oblate fathers, added positively to their North American missions of that time.
