- Trung Tam Thien An
TRUNG TÂM THIÊN ÂN is an education centre located in North Brunswick on Mitchell Street. It is currently run by St Margaret Mary's Catholic Church. The old Clothes factory located at St Margaret Marys was converted into a Education centre. Many Volunteers helped renovate and build and extension to the old building. It finally opened in April 2007. Its current principle is Sister Marguerite Nguyen.
The Building
Inside the Thiên Ân Education Centre are many classrooms and facilities for the students and teachers to use. Each of the classrooms are individually furnished with typical school furniture.
The Classes
The Thiên Ân Centre is an Education Centre that has tutoring classes and Vietnamese Language Classes. Tutoring Classes are held on Saturday afternoons from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The Classes are taught by University Students that volunteer their time to teach. The Vietnamese School Classes are held from 1:00pm to 3:30pm and are taught by Vietnamese Teachers.
The Salesian Youth Club
The Salesian Youth Club operates after Vietnamese School Classes from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. They are run by Sister Thuy-Linh Nguyen and volunteers from University. At the Youth Club, children learn about the Catholic Religion. They sometimes go on mini excursions to the near by Don Bosco Centre which has a activity Centre. The Kids are divided into Age groups. There is also a Children's Choir called the Savio Vicuna Choir. There is also the Don Bosco Choir which is mostly consisted of parents of the children that go to the Tutoring and Vietnamese Classes and Youth Club.
St Magaret Marys
St Margaret Mary's church is a Roman Catholic Parish located in North Brunswick on Mitchell Road. Its current Parish Priest is Father Anthony Huu Quang who is in the Saint Don Bosco Order. There are also two assistant priests: Father Elio Proietto and Father Brian Ahern who are also from the Saint Don Bosco Order. The Parish was erected in 1914 as St Matthew’s Parish. Construction of the ‘new’ church, with St Margaret Mary Alacoque as patron, began in 1920. Administration of the parish was entrusted to the Salesians in 1982.
