Eastern Orthodox Churches and Oriental Orthodox Churches

Participation in the WCC has had the benefit of bringing the Eastern Orthodox Churches and the Oriental Orthodox Churches, separated since the Council of Chalcedon in A.D. 45 1, into a fruitful dialogue. The dialogues and discussions between the theologians of the two families of churches has resulted in establishing that the churches share an unbroken apostolic faith, the same Christology despite its varying emphases and the same ecclesiastical traditions. The Churches have also agreed to remove anathemas against each other's church fathers and the measures have been taken to introduce inter-communion between the two families of churches. Fr. Dr. K.M.George is the Church's member in these ongoing dialogues.

Begun in 2005, this official dialogue has brought together the Catholic Church and the seven Oriental Orthodox Churches (The Coptic Orthodox Church, the Armenian Orthodox Church-Catholicosate of Etchmiadzin, the Armenian Orthodox Church Catholicosate of Cilicia, the Syrian Orthodox Church, the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, the Malankara Orthodox Church and the Eritrean Orthodox Church) into a discussion which aims at the restoration of Eucharistic fellowship between them. World Alliance of Reformed Churches and the Oriental Orthodox Churches Dialogue

A significant step was taken by the World Alliance of Reformed Churches and the Oriental Churches when they decided to enter into a dialogue process. Several dialogue sessions were held, each establishing a platform for mutual understanding and appreciation of the other's theological concerns. H.G. Geevarghese Mar Cooriios is the Church's representatives at these dialogues.

Joint International Commission for Dialogue Between the Catholic Churches and the Malankara Orthodox Church

This dialogue was begun on the initiative taken by H.H.Pope John Paul II and H.H. Moran Mar Baselios Mar Thoma Mathews I in 1989 to open an official window of dialogue between the two churches. An official declaration on Christology was issued in 1989 explaining that the Christological confessions of the two churches were in agreement, despite the historical and verbal differences that have occurred over the past centuries. For more than a decade this dialogue process has been successfully carried forward and established agreements on various topics, such as the early history of the St.Thomas Christians, episcopacy and the like. The Chairman for the Malankara Orthodox Church for this dialogue is H.G. Philipose Mar Eusebius
