Caferro is a Democratic Party member of the Montana Senate. In 2011 she was elected to Senate District 40, representing Helena, Montana. She was a member of the Montana House of Representatives, representing District 80 from 2004 to 2010. Caferro was formerly Director of Women Working for Economic Liberation, but was asked to resign by the board of directors in 2010.
