Hakodate Main Line of Hokkaidō Railway Company (JR Hokkaidō). located in Teine ward,Sapporo ,Hokkaido , Japan. It was established in1995 for the population of northwest suburb of Sapporo. 774 riding passengers per day in 2005.Location and History
The place of station is nearby the municipality border between Sappro and Otaru. Small port town Zenibako sits in the Otaru's side and some factories on the border. Around the the south of the station, National Route 4 runs connenting Sapporo,
Zenibako andOtaru .Area surronding the station had been farmland until the last half of 20th century. It had been vacant country where important road and railway had passed through. The expansion of Sapporo city inspired JR Hokkaido to plan urbanization here. The station opened in
1995 . "Hoshi" in Japanese means 'star' and "mi" is 'looking' in English, so Hoshimi means 'Looking Stars'. It was after Hoshimi Bridge (星観橋) ofHoshioki River (星置川). Bridge name was made from river. River name originates in some words ofAinu language but there are multiple interpretations about it.
