This plant produces a basal rosette of long, narrow leaves 10 to 20 centimeters long, which are generally hairy to bristly. It bolts an erect stem 30 to 70 centimeters tall which bears theinflorescence . The flower heads have large, curlingbract s with glandular hairs or bristles, long, protruding disc florets and bright yellow ray florets.
