Adriana Guerrini (
September 22 ,1907 ,Florence -April 24 ,1970 ,Milan ) was an Italian operaticsoprano , particularly associated with the Italian repertory.Guerrini studied at the Music Conservatory in Florence and at the
Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. She made her debut on Italian Radio (RAI ) in 1940, singing in Giordano's "Siberia" andPuccini 's "Il tabarro ".She made her stage debut in 1942, as Leonora in "
Il trovatore ", at theTeatro Massimo in Palermo. She then appeared at theTeatro dell'Opera di Roma in 1944, as "Madama Butterfly " and Maddalena in "Andrea Chenier ", at the Teatro Comunale inBologna in 1950, as "La traviata " and "Aida ". Her greatest triumphs occurred at theTeatro San Carlo in Naples, where she sang in "Un ballo in maschera ", "La forza del destino ", "Cavalleria rusticana ", "Tosca ", etc.She also won considerable acclaim at theVerona Arena in the title role inGluck 's "Iphigénie en Aulide ", and as Octavian in "Der Rosenkavalier ". During the celebration ofVerdi 's 50th death anniversary in 1951, she sang on Italian radio the roles of Amelia in "I masnadieri ", and Lina in "La battaglia di Legnano ".Outside Italy, she made guest appearances at the
Zurich Opera , theVienna State Opera , theOpéra de Paris , theLiceo in Barcelona, theTeatro Nacional Sao Carlos in Lisbon.A lyric-dramatic soprano of stature, she can be heard in complete recordings of "La traviata", "La forza del destino", "Tosca".
