Ardmore Single Malt was built in 1898 by William Teachers's son, Adam, to secure fillings for their blend(Teacher's Highland Cream). Set deep in the farmland of 'the Garioch', near the River Bogie and the village, Kennethmont. In 1958, two stills were added, with 4 more stills being added in 1958, thus by 1974 it incorporated 8 stills [MacLean, Charles, "Malt Whisky", p.120] . The distillery has its own cooperage and still uses coal to fire the stills.
