Eileen Essell (born in 1922) is an Irish actress noted in part for the age at which she began her screen acting career. Her first screen performance was at the age of 78, in a 2000 episode of the BBC soap opera "Doctors". Her first major role in a feature film was the 2003 film "Duplex" as the "little old lady" who poses an obstacle to the happiness of a young couple played by
Ben Stiller andDrew Barrymore . She played small roles as a sweet elderly fan ofJ. M. Barrie in the 2004 film "Finding Neverland ", and one ofCharlie Bucket 's grandmothers in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory " (2005 version).
