Of Telemann's surviving concertos, his Viola Concerto in G major, TWV 51:G9 is among his most famous, and still regularly performed today. It consists of four movements:
# "Largo:" A mellow movement with long notes that can be phrased to make it an outstanding song. Written in 3/2, and in the key of G. Features many dotted quarter and eighth note slurs. Ranges from open C string to a C two octaves above middle C.
# "Allegro:" Most played movement. Written in 4/4, and in the Key of G. lowest note open C string, highest note the B directly under two octaves above middle C.
# "Andante:" A slow mellow movement with lots of C string–G string cross overs
# "Presto:"A fast exciting movement A typical performance lasts about 14 minutes.
