KTPK (106.9 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic country format. Licensed to Topeka, Kansas, USA, the station is currently owned by JMJ Broacasting Company, Inc.

History

1974-2005 - KTPK - Country "Country 107" / "Twister 106.9" / "K-Country"KTPK is now the longest-running country outlet in Topeka. But they've got some problems. Namely, they played second fiddle to WIBW-FM. It's not a close race. They went to the "Twister" name in 1998, but it didn't help. In 2002, KTPK altered its image again, this time taking the name "K-Country 106.9." However, they made a strong coup in the sports world, by becoming the affiliate for Mid America Ag Network's Kansas State University football and basketball broadcasts. JMJ Broadcasting bought the station in 2004.

2005-current - KTPK - Classic Country "Country Legends 106.9"The success of US-103 sent KTPK in this classic country direction. KTPK also dropped KSU sports at this time. In mid-2006, KTPK soared in the ratings, as US-103 segued away from classic country.
