Scottish League Cup
The Southern League Cup was a regional Scottish football competition held during the Second World War, due to the suspension of national competitions. Held between 1940 and 1946,[cite web|url=http://www.geocities.com/br1anmccoll/southernlc|title=Southern Football League Cup|last=McColl|first=Brian|accessdate=2008-04-11] the competition was played as four groups of four with the group winners forming the semi-finals. In the final season, due to the additional division in the league structure, the competition doubled in size with quarter-finals for the eight group winners. As the war ended, regular league football returned in 1946, with the regional leagues and cups disbanded.]Rangers dominated the tournament, winning five of the six finals, only losing the final tournament to Aberdeen. Two of these tournament wins, however, were on having more corners after the matches finished in draws.
