"Wer wird Millionär?" ("Who will become a millionaire?") is a German game show based on the original British format of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?". It has been broadcasted on RTL since 3 September 1999, and is now in its ninth season (2007/2008). The program's host is Günther Jauch. The show is produced by Endemol. The program is not aired live. Currently it is shown on Mondays and Fridays at 8.15 PM. From 1999 to 2001 the prizes were in German marks. There are usually three lifelines: Fifty-Fifty (Fünfzig-Fünfzig), Phone A Friend (Telefon) and Poll The Audience (Publikumsjoker). If a contestant wants to play a new variant, a new lifeline is added called the Extra Joker (Zusatzjoker). When player chooses this lifeline, however, the second guaranteed level in the money tree (€16,000) is removed. The Extra Joker lets the contestant ask someone in the audience who believes that he/she knows the correct answer. This new variant is also referred to as "Risikomodus" (Risk Mode).

Currently, the show is filmed in Cologne. Previously, it was filmed in Hilversum, Holland.
