Nihongo|Tsukimi |月見 is Japanese festivals honoring the moon of Autumn. The word "Tsukimi" consists of two words tsuki (lit. "moon") and mi (lit. "seeing", or "view"). The celebration take place on the 15th of August for the full moon and on the 13th of Septemer for the growing moon on the traditional
lunisolar calendar , which fall normally in September and October on the modernsolar calendar respectively.The tsukimi custom was originally brought from
China , theMid-Autumn Festival . The full moon of traditional August is so appreciated that people enjoy moon view in several following days.On those day, Japanese appreciate the beauty of the moon and celebrate with rice dumplings called "tsukimi dango" along with some seasonal new crops and glasses (). Traditionally those food are displayed on
sampo as offering to the moon. For the August full moon yams (satoimo), on the contrrary for the September 13th day moon beans (mame) or chestnuts (kuri) are offerings. The alternate names of those celebration, Imomeigetsu, mamemeigetsu and kurimeigetsu are derived from those fixed offerings.ee also
