"This Could Be the Night" is a 1957 MGM comedy film directed by Robert Wise. The movie is based on the short stories by Cornelia Baird Gross and stars Jean Simmons and Paul Douglas. Actor Anthony Franciosa made his debut in this film.

Plot

Anne Leeds is a school teacher who takes a part-time job as a secretary to an ex-bootlegger and horse playing gambler, Broadway nightclub owner with a heart of gold. She falls in love with his younger partner Tony Armotti, who is a typical playboy who can't stay with the same woman for a long period. Tony eventually fires her with the reason that she doesn't belong in a nightclub, but his older partner Rocco rehires her. Anne now tries to be useful and befriends a lot of important customers.
