website_name =The Alfred Barrow School (often called Alf's) is a
secondary school inBarrow-in-Furness ,Cumbria .The school was built early in the 20th century as the 'Higher Grade School'. It was renamed in honour of Sir Alfred Barrow OBE DL, five times Mayor of Barrow between 1913 and 1919. During the 1930s a second building was added, and two schools, called the Alfred Barrow Boys' School and the Alfred Barrow Girls' School, existed side by side. In the 1960s the original buildings were re-equipped. During the 1970s the Alfred Barrow Boys School was on another site at Holker Street until a
co-educational comprehensive school was created. The school has a compulsory
school uniform : School polo shirt and sweatshirt; plus for boys dark grey school trousers and for girls navy or black trousers or navy skirt "of reasonable length".External links
