Robert Augustine Irving (born August 28, 1913, Winchester, England; died September 13, 1991, Winchester, England) was a British conductor whose reputation is mainly as a ballet conductor. The son of mountaineer and author R. L. G. Irving, he studied at Winchester College from 1926 to 1932, and graduated from New College, Oxford in 1935. He also studied with Malcolm Sargent and Constant Lambert at the Royal College of Music from 1934 to 1936. From 1958 to 1989 he served as music director of the New York City Ballet, where he worked extensively with the choreographer George Balanchine.
