Mark Stoddart is an internationally acclaimed sculptor and furniture designer.
Originally from Troon in Scotland, he attended various schools until, at the age of twelve, teachers discovered he was dyslexic. He was then sent to school in England for specialised teaching. Leaving school he returned to Scotland and in 1996 set up his own business, Sculpt Art Creations where he began to produce pieces of limited edition works, inspired by his travels.
Success quickly followed and Sculpt Art gave way to the company that bears his name today, Mark Stoddart International Designer.
Mark now lives in Turnberry, where his company is based. He designs just three tables for production each year along with a strictly controlled number of other sculptures. It can take a year for Mark's ideas to be ready to show at the various exhibitions he attends each year. Every design is made to a limited edition of only 99, a concept that comes from the fact that Mark is the proud owner of a Gordon Keeble car, of which only 99 were ever produced.
The 99th piece of every work he produces is donated to charitable causes.
Mark Stoddart designs can be found in the homes of astronomer Sir Patrick Moore, jockey Frankie Dettori and American astronaut Buzz Aldrin to name but a few of Mark's high profile clients.
