Association of Children's Museums

The Association of Children's Museums is a Washington, D.C. based organization that represents more than 300 children's museums in 23 countries throughout the world.Cite web|url=http://www.childrensmuseums.org/about/facts.htm|title=Stats and Trends|accessdate=2008-04-10|publisher=Association of Children's Museums] The association began in 1962 as the American Association of Youth Museums and grew out of the desire for children's museums to meet as a separate group during the American Association of Museums' annual meeting. They remained informal, but their growth paralleled the growth of children's museums throughout the world.Cite web|url=http://www.childrensmuseums.org/about/history.htm|title=History|accessdate=2008-04-10|publisher=Association of Children's Museums] In addition to organizing museums and administration of grants to museums,Cite web|url=http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P1-53942336.html|title=Asian Shows Funded at Youth Museums|accessdate=2008-04-10|year=2002-06-29|author=Jacqueline Trescott|work=The Washington Post] the Association partners with other organizations, including the National Institute of Health on causes related to children.Cite web|url=http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/11/29/AR2007112901933_pf.html|title=We Can!
