""Gold in the Water: The True Story of Ordinary Men and Their Dream of Olympic Glory" (2003) is a biographical account by P.H. Mullen about a team of elite swimmers preparing for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. The book focuses on the Santa Clara Swim Club in northern California and its fiery coach, Dick Jochums (now retired) who is on a quest to build his last Olympic champion. Athletes profiled include Tom Wilkens, Kurt Grote, Dara Torres, Dod Wales, Tom Dolan, and Ed Moses. The book has become something of a classic in swimming circles and continues to be widely read by swimmers.
