The station went on the air as WRVI on
1982-03-15 . on1992-10-05 , the station changed its call sign to the current WCVS. The station has recently flipped format to active rock, going by the name The Rock @ 96-7. In January 2008, former top rated Morning Disaster host Ray Lytle went to mornings with The Ray Lytle Show on The Rock. Lytle was top rated while on WQLZ throughout the late 90's and the first half of this decade. Lytle added old partner Jon Lamb to the show in July 2008 and the show now has a style similar to that of the old Lytle and Lamb show. The station has also added former QLZ jocks Smash, Joe Schmoe, and Slappy.
