Sir Capel Molyneux, 3rd Baronet (1717-1797) was an Irish politician. He was styled "The Rt. Hon. Sir Capel Molyneux, Bart."
Sir Capel was the son of
Sir Thomas Molyneux, 1st Baronet and Catherine Howard. In 1738 succeeded his brother (Daniel to the title of Baronet and to all the estates exceptCastle Dillon , which he did not inherit until 1759, when the former wife of his late first cousin died.Sir Capel graduated as BA in 1737 and received an honorary LLD in 1768, was Sheriff of
County Armagh and aMember of Parliament at Westminster from 1761 - 1783 forClogher and also for Trinity College, Dublin (1769-1776). He was invested as a Privy Councillor.His first marriage was in 1747 to Elizabeth East, sister of
Sir William East, 1st Baronet , they had two sons, of whom only the second, Capel, survived to adulthood. In 1757 his first wife died and in 1766 he married Elizabeth, a daughter of Lt. Gen. John Aldercron, formerly Commander in Chief in theEast Indies . By her he had two sons, Thomas and John.References
