Ralph Martin Publicover (born

Foreign & Commonwealth Office inLondon ,UK in 1976, serving as a Desk Officer in the South East Asian Department until 1977. After a probable career break between 1977 and 1979, he became Second Secretary inDubai . In 1981, he then moved to become First Secretary in the Economic Department inOttawa ,Canada .In 1985, Publicover returned to London and was on loan from the FCO to the
Cabinet Office . He returned to work directly for the FCO in 1987 as a Desk Officer in the European Community Department.Publicover moved to
Washington, D.C. ,USA in 1989 as First Secretary in the Chancery Department, a post he held until 1992 when he returned to the FCO inLondon . Between 1992 and 1994 he was Assistant Head of the Central European Department.Between 1994 and 1997, Publicover was Deputy Head of Mission in
Bucharest ,Romania ; taking the same post inLisbon ,Portugal between 1999 and 2003. Another career break seems to have been taken between 1997 and 1999.Publicover was Head of the Consular Crisis Group of the Consular Directorate at the FCO in
London between 2003 and 2004. He then seems to have had further time away from work until being appointed British Ambassador to Angola in 2005.He is married to Rosemary Veronica Publicover, with whom he has two daughters (born 1979 and 1988) and one boy (born 1983).
