Stephan Bodian is an instructor of
meditation ,yoga andBuddhism and apsychotherapist currently based inDripping Springs, Texas . He is perhaps best known for authoring the " Meditation For Dummies" and co-authoring the "Buddhism for Dummies" installations of theFor Dummies book series.Biography
Bodian studied
Asian philosophy as an undergrad atColumbia University and ingraduate school atStanford University . Bodian began practicingZen in 1970 serving as a pupil ofShunryu Suzuki Roshi andTaizan Maezumi Roshi among others. Bodian also spent ten years of his life studyingAdvaita Vedanta withJean Kleinamong . He was ordained aZen monk in 1974 and went on to become the director of training at theZen Center of Los Angeles .In 1982 he gave up being a monk to pursue psychology. Bodian began writing during this time, serving as the
editor-in-chief of the magazineYoga Journal and as a contributing editor of . His writing has vaulted him gaining a larger presence, particularly "Meditation for Dummies" which has been met with much editorial acclaim, sales exceeding 125,000 copies and has been printed in English, Dutch, German, Italian, and French. His latest book "Wake Up Now" has also been met with much acclaim.In addition to writing Bodian currently holds individual counseling sessions over the phone and heads meditations intensives and retreats, most notably his School for Awakening.
