Louis Wernwag

Louis Wernwag was a prominent bridge builder in the United States in the early 1800s. Wenwag immigrated to the United States in the late 1700s from Germany. He constructed the first Conowingo Bridge in 1818 and rebuilt Theodore Burr's Port Deposit Bridge in 1824, both crossings of the Susquehanna River in Maryland.cite web |url= http://www.marylandroads.com/keepingcurrent/maintainroadsbridges/bridges/oppe/historicBridges/III-TIMB.pdf |title= TIMBER BRIDGES IN MARYLAND |format= PDF |accessdate= 2008-04-07] His most famous bridge was the "Colossus" over the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.
