The Church of Ireland diocese of Waterford and Lismore existed from the late sixteenth century. It was included in the diocese of Cashel and Emly, after the passing of the Church Temporalities Act of 1834 [Henry Cotton, "Fasti Ecclesiæ Hibernicæ" (1851), p. 114.] .
