"Beat the Star" is an British game show airing on television network ITV. It is the British version of Schlag den Raab, a German game show that is internationally advertised as "Beat your Host". A candidate who can beat a celebrity in a number of disciplines wins the jackpot, starting at £50,000. As of May 2008, it airs on ITV between 18:45 and 20:00 on Sundays.

Premise

Each episode features one contestant battling against a celebrity in a number of disciplines. Differences between Beat the Star and Schlag den Raab

At first the start time of the show is different. In Germany the show starts at 0815 pm on Saturdays. The running time of the original German version is at least four hours with up to 15 individual games, whereas the British version lasts only 75 minutes and only seven games are played. The longest show in the history of "Schlag den Raab" lasted nearly 6 hours. The show began on Saturday 0815pm and ended on Sunday morning at 0145am. The German version is broadcast live and starts with the selection of one of five candidates by televoting. The British remake is pre-recorded.
