Motherboar is a stoner metal quintet founded in 2004 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, by Ryan Gilbert, Benny Grotto, and Joe Grotto. The line up quickly saw the additions of Brian Connor and Kenny Irwin, and that incarnation performed around New England until late in 2005, when Gilbert quit the group. He was replaced by former Lamont frontman Pete Knipfing, who would go on to play and record with the band until mid-2007, when he left to pursue his work with Mess With The Bull (ex-Scissorfight). Knipfing was replaced by Codetta frontman Andrew Doherty, who remains with the group today.

Motherboar released their critically-acclaimed debut record, "Raise the Death Toll", on Witch Trial Records in December 2006. May 2008 saw the band's follow up in a split 10" with recent tourmates Bloodcow. A third release, Motherboar's second full-length, is planned for the summer of 2008.
