Joëlle Ursull was born on November 9, 1960 at Pointe-à-Pitre. Joëlle Ursull will be elected Miss Morne-l'eau before becoming Miss Guadeloupe in 1979. Actress for the television (sitcom produced by RFO), she embraces a subsequent modelling career before forming the group

Zouk Machine is created by Guy Houllier and Yves Honore. They called Joëlle Ursull who is a friend of the family,Christiane Obydol which is the sister of Guy Houllier and under the eye of Lisette Obydol who was called "Mama Zouk" and manager of the group at this time. She is one of three founding members of the group nearDominique Zorobabel , taken because of the failure of Tanya Saint-Val, which then starts a soloist career.
