Joëlle Ursull is a French singer of Guadeloupean origins.

She performed "White and Black Blues", composed by Serge Gainsbourg, in the Eurovision Song Contest 1990 of May 5, 1990. She won 132 points and was second, behind "" by Toto Cutugno. The single was a hit in France, where it peaked at #2 and remained charted for 26 weeks. Biography

Early life

Joëlle Ursull was born on November 9, 1960 at Pointe-à-Pitre. Joëlle Ursull will be elected Miss Morne-l'eau before becoming Miss Guadeloupe in 1979. Actress for the television (sitcom produced by RFO), she embraces a subsequent modelling career before forming the group Zouk Machine. Her influences are those of the Caribbean Zouk, Biguine, Reggae, Ragga, Quadrille, Salsa Merengue and many other. She is the only artist of the French Antilles who have an aura Interational.

The creation of Zouk Machine

Zouk Machine is created by Guy Houllier and Yves Honore. They called Joëlle Ursull who is a friend of the family, Christiane Obydol which is the sister of Guy Houllier and under the eye of Lisette Obydol who was called "Mama Zouk" and manager of the group at this time. She is one of three founding members of the group near Dominique Zorobabel, taken because of the failure of Tanya Saint-Val, which then starts a soloist career. The group won a great success from the release of their eponymous first album. In 1988, she left the group attempted a career as a soloist.

Career soloist

In 1988 she proposed its first album entitled "Miyel", released by the artist and the top of Zouk composer (Kassav ', Frederic Caracas, Pascal Vallot ...). In 1990, she represented France at the Eurovision contest on a song signed Serge Gainsbourg and come out the same year with her second album entitled "Black French". In 1993, it was the release of her third album "As in a Film" very sound blues.

Became a mother, for ten years she dedicated her life to the education of her two daughters. But she will take part of different project, signing on a single for the Mothers & Fathers duet with Jacques D'Arbaud, a duet on the album of the comic Pat, another in 1999 with the reggae artist Djamatik . In 2003, she offers to her fans a single called Babydoo. From 2004 to 2006 she participated in a lot of show in the West Indes and Paris. Since she decide to prepare an album planned for 2008, with the help of the author-composer of the new generation.
