Founded in 1803 and originally situated in London, the school moved to a site in
Slough duringWorld War II where it remained until it sold the land to Tesco in the 1980s, and moved to its current home.Current information
Set in 30 acres of land within Ascot in the county of Royal Berkshire, the school is owned by the Licensed Trade Charity and has been since 1972. The queen is the patron of the school. The school has 3 day houses, Whitbread, Bell's and Courage, and 4 boarding houses, Bass, Carlsberg, Guinness and Gilbey. The school is co-educational and currently has 900 pupils aged 4-18, whilst also providing boarding facilities for some 200 pupils. Although an independent private school, LVS is non-selective.Fact|date=May 2008 The school contains a 25 metre indoor swimming pool, theatre with hi-tech lighting, a recording studio, sports facilities including 4 tennis courts, a gym and a rock climbing wall. In 2004, the Learning Resource Centre was opened, extending the sixth form centre and the library. The school's current Headmaster is Graham Best.Despite being non-selective the school still achieves high academic results and has a strong work ethic.
Competitions
The school holds a number of inter-house competitions every year most notably:Inter-house drama which is held between Bells, Boarders, Courage and Whitbread.Inter-house Music and numerous inter-house sports including hockey, netball, tennis, football, rugby and cricket.
Moto
The school has two famous motos:Fidelis ad finem. Which is roughly translated to 'Faithful To The End'The other school moto is 'Caring confident citizens for the future'.
Rivalry
The school has strong rivalry most prominent between Charters school, which is a state funded school just outside of Ascot.Many accusations have been thrown around between Charters and Lvs, most notable when there was a spout of break-ins at LVS and the general blame was placed on Charters, who neither denied, nor admitted to the attack.There is also rivalry between some other independent schools including Charter house, St Georges and The Elvian School.

Licensed Victuallers is part of the licensed trade charity which has numerous schools around Britain, including The Elvian school in Reading and an unnamed school, that is believed to be under the name of 'Victuallers School' in Yorkshire.
Notable Alumni
Lvs has a thriving network of past students that hanve gone onto become authors, Doctors, Scientists and many other things. Old LVS students are commonly referred to as 'Old Elvians' a name which stays with you throughout. The school often throws functions and gatherings for pupils of all ages.
Most "famously" to come out of lvs are : Hayley Hunt - Fashion Model and Actress.
