Rich Perez is a former professional league baseball player turned Sportscaster from Las Vegas, Nevada. He has numerous credits to his career in the publics eye and entertainment world. A Associates graduate of Notre Dame's Mendoza Campus in South Bend, Indiana and Undergraduate at University of Phoenix with a BSB/C in Communications.

*Called up from Minors in 1986 stretch drive to the Houston Astros but did not play.

Professional

Rich Perez out of Benjamin Franklin High School in Los Angeles, CA class of 1982, was picked up in the 1983 supplemental MLB free agent supplemental draft by the Cincinnati Reds In 1983 Perez's rights were traded along with several others to the Houston Astros for highly-regarded Outfielder Cesar Cedeno. Perez spent four years with the Astros minor league affiliates and was called up in fall of 1986 season along with Ken Caminiti but both saw no action, Perez was traded in 1987 to the Scottsdale Giants, the triple AAA affiliate for the San Francisco Giants.(see: www.thebaseballcube.com) Perez had short stints in Iowa with the Cubs, Royals, Brewers and Orioles organizations before hanging up his cleats on the advice of then manager former Dodgers great Jim Lefebvre as Perez struggled after shoulder Acromium/Labrum surgery. Perez between the minors had several stints as assistant coach with his alma mater at Franklin High School in Los Angeles from 1983 until they won the city title in 1989 under the guidance of head coach Rick Campbell.

A shoulder injury derailed his career so Perez ended up as an assistant to the players with the then NFL Los Angeles Rams. The Rams moved to St. Louis and Perez moved to Indiana and started doing Sports Television in Michigan City, Indiana on Cable Access channel 27 (now 99) in the small community along with former Dallas Mavericks star Sam Hill. This would lead to several other TV and Radio build ups as the show became very successfully watched by the public in the great lakes area. Perez picked up the show and moved it to DCTV in Denver, Colorado where it then became a top rated sports show in a huge market, and nominated for 3 cable ace awards.

Perez and former NFL Minnesota Vikings great Joey Browner have been a radio team for 8 years now out of Las Vegas and Honolulu. They were also the hosts of the University of Hawaii pre-game show from 2005 to the 2008 football seasons.

Rich Perez is the former Sports Editor of the Des Moines, Iowa Press Citizen newspaper one football season in 2000 before teaming with Iowa's Dean Habhab as Adelphia Cables Sportscasting team in Los Angeles, CA.

Rich has also called as Play by Play announcer over 600 boxing matches worldwide as first commentator as selected by Director Marty Corwin on "Friday night Fights" alongside Hall of Fame announcer Colonel Bob Sheridan, Boxer Manual Medina, Boxer Carlos Palomino and Ex-NFL Kicker turned announcer Benny Ricardo. Perez also covered the 2008 Cuban National Olympic Boxing team at the request of President of Cuba, Fidel Castro.

Rich Perez has also a long line of years in the Hotel/Casino industry with the Hilton and Harrahs corporations.

Rich Perez, (son of Little Anthony and high School teammate to Perez) Tony Gourdine and NFL Star Joey Browner can be heard weekly on www.50thstateradio.com with their show each Friday night. Perez has been on ESPN, FOX, WB, Adelphia Cable and USA network as sports host.

Rich Perez has a lot of credits to his name in Hollywood, CA as well (see: www.imdb.com)and has had many brief roles in some big Hollywood releases such as Pirates of the Caribbean series.

Rich Perez was also running the sports radio department for Fucci Metals trader turned CMX CEO A. Demetrius Brown and Eric Brown at Las Vegas based CMX Sports and Entertainement before its insolvency.

Lastly Rich was the 2003-2004 announcer for the Harlem Globetrotters and 2001-2006 NBA summer leagues in Long Beach and Las Vegas.

Rich Perez, Tony Gourdine and The Browner football family (Joey, Jimmy, Ross, Keith, Willard Browner and Max Starks) run the "LCpl Richard Perez Jr Memorial Fund" Named after Perez's late son and supports High School athletics.

Rich Perez is a father of 4, 1 boy and 3 girls, the eldest, his son Spent 1 year and 6 months exactly, in the US Marine Corps LCpl Richard Perez Jr. before he passed in "Operation Iraqi Freedom" in Iraq February 11, 2005 at the age of 19, in a controversial incident within days of going home to Las Vegas, NV.
