Thorpeness railway station
- Thorpeness railway station
Thorpeness railway station was a station serving the seaside resort of Thorpeness in Suffolk.
It was opened in 1914 by the Great Eastern Railway on its 8.5 mile branch line from Saxmundham, and was closed in 1966 as part of the Beeching Axe as much of the British rural rail network was cut back.
Today the platforms of the old station survive, through overgrown with vegetation. The trackbed is now a footpath. [ [http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/stations/t/thorpeness/index.shtml Subterranea Britannica: SB-Sites: Thorpeness Halt ] ]
