Giovanni Lurani Cernuschi (
December 19 1905 - January 1995) was an Italian automobile engineer, racing car driver andjournalist. Also, he wasconte diCalvenzano .He studied engineering at the
Politecnico di Milano and raced cars such asSalmson ,Derby ,Alfa Romeo andMaserati , participated eleven times inMille Miglia ,winning three times: 1933 in an MG K3, 1948 in a Healey and 1952 in aPorsche ).After partaking in thesecond Italo-Abyssinian War (1935-36), he founded the racing teamScuderia Ambrosiana along withLuigi Villoresi andFranco Cortese (1937), and sustained a badhip -injuryinMaserati 4 CM atCrystal Palace (circuit) , thus ending his single-seater career (1938).After
world war II Lurani got more involved in administration and politics,such asFIA where he initiated theGT (1949) andFormula Junior (1959).
