John Murray, Lord Murray

Sir John Archibald Murray, Lord Murray, (1779-1859) was a Scottish judge.

Son of Alexander Murray, Lord Henderland, he contributed to the Edinburgh Review from its commencement. He was a promoter of the 1832 Reform Bill and was Member of Parliament for Leith Burghs from 1832 until 1839.

He was appointed Lord Advocate from May to November 1834 and from 1835 to 1839. He was knighted and appointed a judge, with the judicial title Lord Murray, in 1839.
