Aldeby , in the English county ofNorfolk . It was on the line betweenGreat Yarmouth andBeccles ; the connection was opened in 1859 when the line fromIpswich toBeccles was extended northwards. It was closed in1959 , and trains ran between the two termini.History
Opened by the East Suffolk, and joining the
Great Eastern Railway , it became part of theLondon and North Eastern Railway during the Grouping of 1923. The line then passed on to theEastern Region of British Railways onnationalisation in 1948. It was then closed by theBritish Transport Commission .The site today
There is a large building on the site and the former course of the railway can be tracked through the fields.
