- Bio-plate
Or bio-template. Used in
machine pressing ,neurosurgery andbiometrics , a bio-plate or bio-template, is a stored biological template, identifying unique, intrinsic physical features, such as face, fingerprint, iris ,retina or hand. Inmachine pressing , a cast of organic material is a bio-template. Inneurosurgery , the bio-template is the original body part.In biometric authentication (biometrics) for computers, the bio-template is a pattern or a mathematical description of physical features, typically fingerprints or irises. The pattern or
algorithm is from key characteristic measurements of the features. Common characteristics used for this purpose are the ridges andbifurcations of the pad of the finger. These characteristics areminutiae points .The [http://fingerprint.nist.gov/minex04| Minutiae Interoperability Exchange Test] by the [http://www.nist.gov| National Institute of Standards and Technology ] shows that bio-templates are highly accurate alternatives to full fingerprint images.
