watershed =The Buthier (also known as the "Valpelline") is a mountain torrent in north-west Italy. A left tributary of the Dora Baltea, its entire course lies within the Valpelline in the region of Aosta Valley.

Course

One branch of the river is formed by the Tsa de Tsan glacier at an eleveation of c. 2,700m; a second by the Grandes Murailles glacier at c. 3,000 m. The river is then barred to form the Lago di Place-Moulin reservoir, after which it passes throught the communes of Bionaz, Oyace, Valpelline, Roisan and finally Aosta where it joins the Dora Baltea.
