Cup Of Death

Cup Of Death

"Cup Of Death" is a gamebook (a form of narrative, usually written in the second person, that allows the reader to participate in the story by choosing various narrative paths using numbered references) in the Choose Your Own Adventure series. It was written by Shannon Gilligan and was originally published in 1985 as the forty-fourth book in the original Choose Your Own Adventure series, published by Bantam Books. It was originally titled "Mystery of the Ura Senke" but when it was republished in 2005 as part of the relaunched series of Choose Your Own Adventure Books, by Chooseco it was given the new title. It is the 24th book in the republished series. The text was updated in the new version to reflect changes in technology since the book's original release.

CYOA Basics

As is the custom for Choose Your Own Adventure, the story is told from the “You” perspective, placing the reader as the protagonist and giving them a new choice virtually every page until they reach end, at which point they have either succeeded or met some potentially terrible fate.

Plot

You live with your family in the Japanese city of Kyoto. Your best friend calls you and tells you that a national treasure has been stolen. It is a tea bowl called Yukisoo. Your list of possible suspects includes high-ranking politicians, socialites, the Mafia, and a housekeeper. With such a long list, your search will be difficult, but this tea bowl is worth more than money can buy!
