Since very few television sets at that time could receive a UHF signal, WKLO was at a disadvantage against the two existingVHF stations. Advertisers were reluctant to purchase commercial time on the station and it suspended operations in 1954 after just six months on air. OnJuly 13 ,1956 WKLO asked theFCC to let it use VHF Channel 7 which was at the time allocated in nearbyEvansville, Indiana , but this never occurred.
