Itow Takumi 伊藤卓美 (born in 1946 in the
Miyagi Prefecture ,Japan ) is a prominentJapan eseprintmaker and president of theJapan Print Society . His artwork has been featured onJapan Post postage stamps as well as featured in exhibitions at theLibrary of Congress and thePeabody Essex Museum inSalem, Massachusetts . Takumi currently teaches woodblock printing atWaseda University inTokyo .Takumi's interest in the
woodblock printing began at a young age when his father, an painter, encouraged his study of the arts. Having a special interest in Japanesematsuri festivals andfolk art , especiallymingei , many of Takumi's prints explore the local cultures of Japan's rural areas, such as his own Miyagi Prefecture.References
