Warrior Football

The Warriors are led by Head Coach John Hammett. Hammett, in his 5th year as head coach in 2007, led the Warriors to an 11-3 record (the best in school history), a conference championship, a #1 seed in the 3AA State Playoffs, and an appearance in the 3AA Eastern Final. The Warriors, however, fell 14-6 to Dudley (the eventual 3AA State Champion) in the semifinal game. The Warriors return the Mid-State 3A Conference Player of the Year and an All-State candidate, Antwan Thorpe, at the quarterback position along with a slew of returning starters on defense. Thorpe passed for 1,590 yards and 15 touchdowns and rushed for 1,316 and 19 touchdowns as a junior in 2007 on his way to earning conference POY honors, and is set to lead his team back to the NCHSAA State Playoffs this season. So far the Warriors are 6-1 (1-0) and ranked #11 in the AP 3A poll.
