- Barry Finnerty
Michael Barry Finnerty (born December 3, 1951) is an American
jazz guitarist, keyboardist, and bassist, best known for his work as asession musician .Finnerty was born in
San Francisco and raised on the West Coast, studying at theSan Francisco Conservatory of Music and theUniversity of California Berkeley . He moved toNew York City after attendingBerklee College of Music for a short time in 1971. In 1974 he began playing withChico Hamilton ,Airto Moreira , andFlora Purim . In 1975 he became a member of theJoe Farrell quartet, and later in the decade played withHubert Laws ,Tower of Power ,Thad Jones andMel Lewis ,Ray Barretto , andBeefy Red . He played withMichael Brecker andRandy Brecker (1977-81) andThe Crusaders (1979-84), in addition to touring in Europe withBilly Cobham in 1980. He played withMiles Davis in 1981.Discography as leader
