- Workplace strategies
Workplace strategies are managerial strategies designed to improve or enhance an organization's ecology of ways of working. Also known as Integrated Workplace Strategies, the study and implementation of workplace strategies is an interdisciplinary endeavour, in which one simultaneously considers the interplay of work processes, employee demographics, architectural design, information and communications technologies, organizational culture and social structure, as they converge in a workplace milieu. Workplace strategies are said to have evolved from the early
organizational ecology literature. The study of workplace strategies was pioneered when Franklin Becker and William Sims launched the Cornell University International Workplace Studies Program [http://iwsp.human.cornell.edu/] in 1989.
More recently, the
Fraunhofer IAO Office 21 programme [http://www.office21.de/englisch/index.htm] has been working to produce a vision for the office of the future, integrating research into the development of technological infrastructures, facility management and organisational cultures.CoreNet Global launched its Workplace Community (CGWC)in 2007 [http://www2.corenetglobal.org/learning/communities/workplace/index.vsp] . This community is focused on becoming the global voice of authority and integration hub for all people working with new and progressive workplace strategies.
