Salmonsson began his professional career during the 2003-04 season with Djurgårdens, also of the Swedish Elite League. He then moved to North America after two seasons with Djurgårdens to play one season with the
Spokane Chiefs of theWestern Hockey League during 2005-06 season. Salmonsson has played for the Swedish national junior team at the
