Surfatron

Surfatron

Surfatrons are the colloquial name for experimental particle accelerators, using plasma acceleration to generate very high electronvolt measurements over dramatically shorter distances than traditional accelerators. Currently such devices are in the proof of concept phase at the following institutions:

Argonne National Laboratory

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

Stanford University

UCLA

Rutherford Appleton Laboratory

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

United States Naval Research Laboratory

Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics

University of Michigan

Chalk River Laboratories

Wikimedia Foundation. 2010.
