Main-belt Asteroid discovered onMarch 20 ,1998 by theLincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research Team atSocorro .Named after Rachel Lauren Zelkowitz (b. 1985), who was awarded second place in the 2003 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for her botany project. Zelkowitz is currently an undergraduate senior at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.
