Gundebold, Gondobaldus or Adgillis III (
725 -760 ) was according to the "Cronica der Friesen" ofEggerik Benninga , King of the Frisians between 748 and 760.He would have been the son and successor of Adgillis II, whose existence is also uncertain.Afterwards his son
Radboud II would succeed him being the last independentking of the Frisians .Gundebold ruled on a Frisian territory east of the
Lauwers and the FrisianGroningen . In 734, the Franks conquered the Frisian king Poppo, an ancestor of Gundobold, in theBattle of the Boarn , in which most of the Friesian areas fell into the hands of theMerovingian Empire .In 748 the
Rex Frigionum granted military assistance tomajor-domo Pippin III as it is at war against theSaxons .Reference
