Finney Ross

Finney Edward Ross (1915-1985), is a leathersmith and knife maker.

Born in Missouri City, Texas [http://www.ci.mocity.tx.us/] on September 24, 1915; Finney Ross was a master leathersmith in Alvin, Texas from 1955 to 1983.

Single owner and operator of Ross Saddles and Ross Saddle Shop, Ross designed and manufactured hand made saddles, bridles, bull ropes, chaps, bareback riggings, saddle blankets, saddle bronc riggings, ropes (lariats), pigging strings, scabbards, breast plates, flank straps, saddle bags, belts and award plaques for the Rodeo Cowboy Association (forerunner of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association). Suffering from arthritis, Ross gave up the leather trade and traveled to Arkansas where he was trained by famous knife maker Jim Lile (maker of the Rambo's Knife for the Sylvester Stallone movie). [http://www.jimmylile.com/]
