Japan–Malta relations

Maltese-Japanese relations are formal diplomatic relations between Malta and Japan, established in July 1965.

History

Maltese Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami made a state visit to Japan in 1990.

The balance of trade between Malta and Japan is heavily weighed in favor of Japan, with Japan exporting electronic components and automobiles and importing food products.

Malta is represented in Japan through its non resident ambassador based in Beijing (China) and an honorary consulate in Tokyo. Japan is represented in Malta through its non resident ambassador based in Rome (Italy).
