Steven M. Cerutti

Steven Matthew Cerutti (born November 10, 1960, in New York City) is a Professor of Classics in North Carolina. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Iowa, where he majored in both English Literature and Classics. His excellent work in Latin and Ancient Greek would win him a full academic scholarship to Duke University in 1986, where he was awarded the Ph.D. in Classical Studies in 1992. He is a graduate of the American Numismatic Society and a Fulbright Scholar. He is the author of five books: "The Words of the Day: The Unlikely Evolution of Common English"; "When Greek Goats Sing Sad Sngs: A Beginner's Guide to Reading (and Enjoying!) Greek Tragedy"; "Cicero's Pro Archia, Text and Commentary" (2 vols); "Cicero's Accretive Style: Rhetorical Strategies in the Exordia of the Judicial Speeches".
